Creating atmosphere within a space is a journey of balancing countless relationships—between space and people, wind and air. We value a flexible attitude throughout this process and trust in its quiet strength. By embracing the ever-changing context of each moment, we craft unique atmospheres grounded in practicality and simplicity.

The work begins by looking at the familiar space of home as an object of observation. Revisiting the rooms and objects accumulated in memory feels much like unexpectedly coming across something long forgotten. Home is at once deeply personal and a place shared with those closest to us. One's sense of territory may contract to a space smaller than a room or extend to encompass the entire house.

Moving beyond the boundaries of a single room, the work turns its attention to the in-between spaces of the home—to moments of pause and the ways we inhabit them. Within an interior shaped by the routines and roles of everyday life, an exhausted body often comes to rest in unintended places: on the floor beyond the entrance or in the narrow gaps between pieces of furniture. These low, unassuming positions and unstructured postures ease tension, allowing both body and mind to return to themselves. In these moments, the spaces we linger in become a kind of shade within the home—not a visible scene, but a sensation retained in the body.

The forms follow the movement of the body rather than function. Working with materials that readily receive the pressure and imprint of the hand, the process gradually brings these gestures into focus. Marks and traces embedded in the material are carried into cast aluminum as it solidifies within the sand mold, transforming fleeting sensations into enduring physical presence. The resulting forms resist a single, fixed identity. Each surface reveals the trace of a different moment, offering shifting impressions depending on the viewer's perspective. Their three-legged structure embraces subtle tension and instability rather than perfect balance.

Like those unintended moments of rest, the work does not propose a specific function. Instead, it invites a particular state of being—like a patch of shade where one might briefly lean, pause, and simply remain.

Under the theme House of Practice, PROTOTYPE00004 brings together prototype furniture and objects by nine creators, each reflecting on what is perhaps our most fundamental and urgent space: home. Through their individual practices, the exhibition explores the questions these works raise about our memories, perceptions, and attitudes toward the home.

Artists: Ye Sola Kwon, Namgyu Kim, Donghyun Kim, Bada Kim, Se Eun Park, Jaesung Park, Seungoh Son, Seunghyeok Lee, Eunkyung Lee

Bread&Walk is a small bakery café located beside Yangjaecheon Park in Seoul.
Inspired by the phrase “Everyday We Walk. Everyday We Bake.”, the space was conceived from a simple scene: someone briefly pausing during a walk, picking up bread in one hand, and returning to the path. Rather than a destination people intentionally seek out, it is a small moment of pause naturally placed along everyday paths.
